[Fuh-mi] Kakejiku - Michi Calligraphy

Kakejiku - Michi Calligraphy -「道」- Prison and Freedom

Material: Ink on High-quality Gasen-shi Japanese paper, High-quality Japanese Kifune Donsu.
Calligraphy size (total): 95 cm x 52 cm
Calligraphy size (paper): 41 cm x 31.5 cm

Michi, or "道" means "the Way" in English, can be interpreted as "Prison and Freedom".

This calligraphy of the character "MICHI" - the Way, presents different realities of the moral and intellectual development of Man: if on the one hand, the way allows a spiritual ascent to those who avoid certain pitfalls, it can nevertheless quickly become a prison for the one who interprets it in a peremptory and erroneous way.
The character is here divided into two: the key (shinnyo) on the left calling for ascension, and the part on the right which closes on the Man like a cage.

This Kakejiku is a "Maruhyoso Kakejiku": It is made in Japan with high-quality kifune donsu. The honshi is made of high-grade gasen-shi, a traditional paper made of natural fibers used primarily for Sumi-e (brush painting) and calligraphy.
